We are gathered in the family room and my parents are watching a Chinese drama series. Abby and I are building Lego Duplo towers and neither one of us (...or so I thought...) was paying any attention elsewhere. My focus was on finding 4 matching color square blocks in the Lego tub when Abby said:

"Mama, ta men [Chinese: they are] hugging. Ta men {blows a kiss into the air} !"

Her mixed bag of English, Chinese, and gestures didn't immediately clue me in on what was going on until I noticed she was staring at the television, on which was a close-up of an embraced couple, kissing!!

Abby turned from he TV and started attacking towards us with puckered lips and gave us all slobbery smooches.

It is no longer safe to leave uncensored shows on while Abby is around, as she's obviously paying close attention, absorbing it all in, then acting on what she had just seen!

Abigail and our female cat, Belle, have a very special relationship. Literally in the blink of an eye, situations go from gentle petting, cooing words, and lots of purrs to fur yanking, kicking, screaming, and having objects flung. Belle is too stubborn to play to the whims of a toddler so she stands her ground. Abby is too stubborn to put up with a cat who doesn't cater to her ever-changing mind. Result: too much time playing referee to Abby and Belle.

However, these two really love each other deep down. I just know it. Abby greets her with an excited, "Belle-Belle! How are you? Good!" in the mornings and it's always Belle she wants to play with - putting her down for night-night or giving her a ride in her wee-wee-weeee. She simply ignores the boys, Tigger and Gizmo.

If you haven't heard Susan Boyle's performance on Britain's Got Talent yet, it's definitely worth a moment of your time to hear what all the fuss has been about.

Unbelievable for an amateur!

...goes the Easter Turtle!

One of the communities we are considering for buying a home hosted an Easter Eggstravaganza today, which included an Egg Hunt. Abby picked out this Reptilian Easter basket specifically for the Hunt and during the whole car ride there, we heard her saying, "hop, hop, hop" in the backseat and watched her turtle bouncing through the rear-view mirror. No amount of reasoning - including a turtle physiology lecture - would convince her that turtles generally do not hop!

For the 0-2 years old age group, the eggs were strewn on the ground (not hidden) to allow the babies to easily gather eggs. Abby LOVED filling her basket and ended up with 23 candy-filled eggs.

Despite heavy winds and a very, very crowded event, I think Abby had a lot of fun.

~ooo~HAPPY EASTER~ooo~

What: Her very first chore - feeding the cats
Who: Daddy taught her what to do and she gets better at it every day
When: Started over a month ago, Abby at 20 months of age

Description: She has been faithfully doling out food for our cats every day for over a month now. She loves her chore and will even remind us of it when evening comes around that it is time to feed the cats. Before and after she fills their food bowls, she will try herding Tigger, Belle, and Gizmo downstairs to go eat. It's a joy to watch her so determined to perform well in her new responsibility.

Abby showed up to daycare this morning without a coat and shoes. The weather was cool, but wasn't cold enough for us to insist on the coat, but.....April Fools!

By 4:00 PM today I am watching the strangest weather develop outside my office window. We are watching and hearing a thunderstorm situation with very heavy snow, hail, graupel, thunder, and lightning over the western sections of Denver. Snow is coming down fast, heavy, and sideways. The sky rumbles every few minutes. Visibility is nearly non-existent.

People are starting to head home. These types of freak storms seem to always like to hit right before rush hour!

Paul is on his way to pick up Abby and me. Time to go home and stay inside for the rest of the night.
