This afternoon, we celebrated Abby's arrival into the world a year ago. We had Grandma and Grandpa Newell staying with us this week and Aunt Linn and Aunt Libby staying through the weekend. Also, some very good friends came over to celebrate this day with us - Elizabeth, Jeremy, David, Eric, Lisa, Kristy, Olya, Ingemar, Joe, Stacy, Ryan, and Christina.


I can still remember with clarity what I was doing a year ago at this time...laying in a hospital bed, in excellent spirits thanks to the company of Paul, Aunt Linn, Aunt Libby, and the wonderful staff at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, waiting for the Pitocin to do its work so we could meet our Abigail.


Today, our very special girl had a very sweet birthday party and she seemed to really enjoy herself....despite her exhaustion, hinted to us all by her trying to head up the stairs to bed twice when she was opening presents.
