Paul and I generally have the radio on while driving, but turning it off when one of us needed to make or take a phone call.

We listen to a fairly clean rock/pop/alternative station, so we didn't think exposing Abby to it would be bad.

And actually, it was cute when Abby started singing to Jason Mraz when she turned 2.

However, fast forward 7 months and we have suddenly realized that she is picking up certain All American Rejects and Lady Gaga lyrics, which aren't so innocent! So, we've been keeping the radio off or very low a little more often these days.

Last weekend, though, while Paul and I chatted in the front seats, Abby says: "Is mama on the cell phone?"

Paul and I both respond: "Noooo....."

Abby says: "Is baba on the cell phone?" (Baba is Chinese for daddy.)

Paul and I again respond: "Noooo....."

"Then can we turn on the radio?!"

You have to give the girl credit for her clever thought process, right? She eliminated all factors she knew for why the radio would be off before requesting it to be turned on.

Of course, we obliged.
This little girl is determined to be non-cooperative.

During our 20 week ultrasound, we were never able to get a good 3D photo of her face because she kept putting a hand up in the way. So, when I had my 36 week ultrasound last Friday, the technician and I were ecstatic to see her in a position to get a good face shot. She immediately switched to the 3D/4D "wand" and during those 5 seconds, the baby must have heard us and thought, "Ha ha, no way am I going to give them the satisfaction of getting a good picture of me!" and up went one hand - and later, the other - to hide her face!

Anyway, the ultrasound was to measure her size and I'm happy to report she's measuring almost textbook size for 36 weeks at 6 lbs 5 ozs, which is in the 51st percentile.

During this appointment, I actually ended up with 2 ultrasounds. The first to measure her size and the second to take a biological profile. I was taking a non-stress test which was 20 minutes of feeling the baby move and measuring her heart rate. If she moves, the heart rate should not drop. Well, everything looked pretty good, but the doctor felt like the baby was moving around so much that she couldn't get a baseline for what her heart rate would be at rest, so it was either another 20 minutes hooked up to the non-stress test machine or sneak in for an ultrasound biological profile. My 1 hour doctor's appointment lasted 4 and the result was that the baby is in perfect health and her environment looks great.

Last week, they tested for the Group B Strep bacteria and results came back negative, thank goodness.

The baby is head-down still and I am making a little bit more progress, but not much - 80% effaced and a little over 1 cm dilated. So, it looks like this little one will still bake for a few more weeks.

The closest we got to a face shot.

Two hands determined to hide her face from us!

We watched for several minutes as she opened and closed her mouth to gulp fluid and practice breathing.
It was a beautiful day today. The temperature was around 78 degrees. Can you believe that the photos below were taken less than 6 days ago?!

Freaky Colorado weather.

Abby had a lot of fun building her first snowman with Dad. Usually, the snow is so dry that snow creatures are difficult to build, but last Wednesday's heavy, white stuff was ideal to build a 5'8" snowman on our front porch.

We have promised Abby that the next time it snows like this, we can build a BIG snow dinosaur, per her request.

When I first saw these pieces of art by Erik Natzke, I thought they were beautiful, yet puzzling. Were they oil paintings, watercolor, what? The lines sometimes were too incredibly sharp for any sort of brush painting, but since I don't really know that much about art, I just didn't think about it anymore. I just sat back and enjoyed the visual stimulation.
Today, I found out this artist creates his art using computer code! Here's a demonstration:

Cool, huh?
Look what fun coding can be!
I had a prenatal checkup today. I have been having an appointment once a week since I started effacing at 33 weeks.

Everything is looking great. Baby's heart rate is 144 bpm and she is moving around well.

As for delivery progress, baby's at 0 station (engaged). I am 70% effaced and 1cm dilated. What does all that mean? Absolutely nothing except that when I do go into labor, there's less work. I like trying to be efficient. :)
