Paul and I generally have the radio on while driving, but turning it off when one of us needed to make or take a phone call.
We listen to a fairly clean rock/pop/alternative station, so we didn't think exposing Abby to it would be bad.
And actually, it was cute when Abby started singing to Jason Mraz when she turned 2.
However, fast forward 7 months and we have suddenly realized that she is picking up certain All American Rejects and Lady Gaga lyrics, which aren't so innocent! So, we've been keeping the radio off or very low a little more often these days.
Last weekend, though, while Paul and I chatted in the front seats, Abby says: "Is mama on the cell phone?"
Paul and I both respond: "Noooo....."
Abby says: "Is baba on the cell phone?" (Baba is Chinese for daddy.)
Paul and I again respond: "Noooo....."
"Then can we turn on the radio?!"
You have to give the girl credit for her clever thought process, right? She eliminated all factors she knew for why the radio would be off before requesting it to be turned on.
Of course, we obliged.
